Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her early Broadway performances are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her role as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. It's also available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford returns to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that brought us Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. She starred in two seasons of popular CBS comedy B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are just a few of her Broadway performances. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
